District 37 families,
Every child, every day, in every way - that’s the East Moline way. We believe every child entrusted to our care deserves our best support academically and emotionally. Whether it’s working with students to provide extra academic support, helping our students learn self-regulation skills and emotional intelligence, or pushing our students to achieve more than they think possible, the employees of EMSD #37 are here to help our children achieve a measure of success each and every day.
As a nation, we have had to face many challenges in the past two years. Those challenges don’t define us, they embolden us to work harder and smarter to ensure we can serve our students and families. This August, we will officially open the East Moline Early Learning Center, which is a major investment from our Board of Education in early intervention for our youngest learners. We have partnered with Community Health Care to offer health services in our schools so families can access quality healthcare without needing to miss work to take your child to an appointment. For the past three years, we have worked diligently to implement a social-emotional learning curriculum and support system for all children and have added more resources and tools for the upcoming school year. We will soon begin to implement community-wifi to ensure a measure of equity so all children will have Internet access in the home. Exciting things are happening in the community and in our schools and the East Moline School District stands ready to partner with our families because we understand that our students have infinite potential.
My favorite day of the school year will soon be upon us. There’s nothing better than that first day when many of our students and families walk to school. I love to watch the interactions between our students and their new teachers as they begin the year anew, a fresh start, the adults that will believe in them, with new friends and learning adventures ahead. It’s always fun to see our new kindergarten parents walking up to the school and meeting the teacher, taking pictures, and excited about the year ahead for their child. These milestones that are to be remembered and shared with family and friends. I look forward to seeing many of you next Thursday, August 11 for our kindergarten through eighth-grade students, and Monday, August 15 for our preschool students. You can find more information on school supply lists for each of our schools on our website or by clicking here.

I hope you will join me in welcoming our students back to school for a year of challenging the impossible and reaching just a little higher than they believe possible. Every child, every day, in every way – that’s the East Moline way. Our employees are here, ready to serve and partner with our families to help our students achieve success each and every day. We hope you have had a wonderful summer and we look forward to a great year of learning ahead.
Yours for children,
